Functional Movement Screen (FMS)

The FMS (Functional Movement Screen) is an objective tool that measures seven fundamental movements that are key to daily life and determines if those movement patterns are optimal, acceptable, or dysfunctional. Each test in the FMS has been selected for the significant feedback it provides on mobility and stability and how both work together for larger integrated functional movement. Based on the screen results, an FMS professional can develop specific programming to achieve higher levels of fitness and performance which provides highly customized exercises and treatment to progress to optimal function.

Injuries are prevalent in BJJ and an inherent risk of training. Research has shown that if you train consistently and for a prolonged period of time, you will likely deal with injuries. As a BJJ Brown Belt and Doctor of Physical Therapy, I have worked with many diagnoses, post-operative patients, sprains, strains, and various BJJ-related and grappling-related injuries. Training for years and dealing with numerous injuries myself, I have been able to develop a skill-set that is specific to orthopedic conditions, injury-prevention, and body maintenance to prevent injuries to keep you training and on the mats.

I can bring this experience and skill-set to your gym. I will run a comprehensive injury-prevention seminar with emphasis on stretches, exercises, and techniques that have worked and been beneficial in preventing injuries. The seminar will also include a question and answer session to answer any questions or concerns regarding the skill set you need in order to minimize your risk of injuries.
